Thunderbird calendar lost all events, cannot store new ones permanently

Hi, a couple of weeks ago my Thunderbird calendar lost all maintained events (e.g. yearly repeating birthdays of family members, daily repeating events, etc.). I am not sure exactly when it happened (somehow you do not miss missing events for some time...), but it might have happened in combination with a release upgrade. Before this the calendar and the events worked fine for many years.

In addition when I am now trying to create a new event with custom recurrence (weekly, every Saturday and Sunday, no end date) I cannot see the event on any of the scheduled days in the calendar (even though Saturdays and Sundays are now displayed in bold in the overview). I do get the reminder for the current day instance of the event, I can see the event listed under "Tomorrow" in the "Event and Task" pane.

Further issue: When clicking "Dismiss" on the reminder for the current day instance of the event the popup will not close. The same happens with any "Snooze" option. Only closing the reminder window with the "X" at the top right corner does it.
