День добрый! Был архив почты, который всегда открывался. Сегодня почта пуста, нет писем и ничего более. Проблема вся в том, что я когда-то работал в компании, которая уже закрылась и больше не работает, а почту использовал как базу данных. Теперь у меня нет доступа не к почте, не к базе данных. Что делать в такой ситуации?

Several months ago I experienced Inbox email loss whenever I clicked "Compact now" in the "Compact folders" dialog. After a couple of occurrences I trained myself to only click "Remind me later" thus avoiding the email loss. Today I goofed and clicked "Compact now". Many important opened and unopened emails disappeared from my Inbox as a result. I waited a while to make sure Compact folders had completed the operation but no lost emails reappeared. I shut down and relaunched Thunderbird but no lost emails reappeared. I don't know if any of my other folders have experienced this email loss.
My most recent backup will restore some of what was lost from my Inbox. But not the new unread emails.
What can I do to prevent this from happening again? Can I disable "Compact folders" completely so the problem never re-occurs?
I haven't upgraded to Thunderbird 116.0 because my backups are from v. 115.10.1 and I have experienced problems restoring Thunderbird with a previous versioned backup.

It works on Thunderbird for Android instantaneously but not for Thunderbird nor the standard Linux email app on my laptop running the latest version of Fedora

I use Mozilla Thunderbird to import and manage my GMail account. It has always worked very well. I have a large number of folders in the Mozilla Thunderbird program (parallels those in Gmail) and, frankly, use it as a filing system. This morning when I went into Thunderbird I discovered that the emails stored in the folders were all gone, except for those from about May 14th 2025 or more recent than that. I have lost a huge amount of information that was kept in those emails in folders. I checked the ALL MAIL folder in Thunderbird and those emails are gone from that folder as well. I followed the instructions Google gave me to check Trash and Spam folders and try to repair the folder but this is doing nothing. I also went directly to GMail and these same emails have been deleted from those folders as well. I have years of important information stored in emails in the Mozilla Thunderbird account and want to know why they disappeared and, most importantly, how they can be retrieved and I can orpevent this happening againin the future! Thanks you for helping solve this problem. I cannot stress enough how much of my professional and personal life is captured in the emails I had stored in the Thunderbird folders so anything you can do to help will be greatly appreciated. For some time I have been having problems with moving or copying messages between folders in TB - I am on the esr channel and have just moved from 128.12 to 140.1 but nothing changed until I saw in a post on this forum that repairing the folder could make a difference. I have tried the repair folder option and it mostly works but not always - for example I couldn't copy or move messages from a sub-folder on one email account to a sub-sub-folder on another. It finally worked when I moved the messages to the folder above the one I wanted, and then moved them down, which was very time-consuming. And now it is once more refusing to copy a single message to a folder on another account.
Something that may not be helping is the fact that I am trying to copy messages to a new account, which has weirdly placed itself right at the bottom of the navigation list, below Local Folders and a news-server.
All the messages seem present and correct on my mailserver, where the recalcitrant folder is neatly in its alphabetical order.
Does TB just get bored? Does its memory clog up? Should I clear 'recent history' (whatever that is?)
Hoping someone can shed some light on what has been a very frustrating process of trial and error.

I'm trying to better understand how Thunderbird communicates that messages are deleted to the servers of the respective email accounts configured as IMAP. Specifically, it seems that when moving a message from an IMAP folder, such as an Inbox, to a folder of a different email account or a Local Folder, the message disappears from Thunderbird but doesn't immediately get deleted from the server (I am checking by logging in through a browser to the email's web interface). Depending on the email provider, it may be marked or flagged as "deleted" or in some cases it just remains in the inbox (in outlook's web interface, for example, I can't tell if a message has been marked as deleted or not). Only later, after right-clicking on the respective inbox in Thunderbird and choosing "Compact" it deletes the message from the server.
I'm a bit confused now: All of my accounts are using maildir (https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/maildir-thunderbird) as storage format, which I selected prior to adding any account. According to the information here (https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/compacting-folders), "Compact does not apply to accounts using the maildir storage format". So for maildir accounts, why do I have a "compact" option at all and how come it doesn't delete messages immediately? Or perhaps I'm misunderstanding either what compact means or maildir or (probably) both? Is there a way to have Thunderbird simply delete (not just "mark as deleted") moved messages instantly?
I was under the impression that since maildir stores essentially one file per email message, that it would function like file management on a computer, so when moving a message from folder A to folder B the file/message would disappear from folder A, not that it would keep a copy "marked as deleted" in folder A. If anybody could explain this I would be most grateful.

Entsprechend der Einstellungen sollte erkannte Junk Mail aus dem Junk Ordner nach einem Tag gelöscht werden (wie es auch in der Thunderbird-Anleitung beschrieben ist und wie es in der Vergangenheit auch war). Aber die Junk Mail wird seit einem der letzten Updates (z.Zt. 138.0.2) nur in den Papierkorb verschoben, statt daß sie gelöscht wird ... - was aus meiner Sicht keinen Sinn macht. Wie kann man diesen Makel beheben? Danke im voraus für jeden Hinweis.
According my settings the junk mails in junk folder should be deleted after one day. But - instead of deleting these junk mails - the junk mails just move to trash folder (which then must be cleared manually) - absolutely nonsense !! My thunderbird version 138.0.2 - before update to this current version, the junk mails have been DELETED (!!) according my settings and NOT moved to trash

I have used Thunderbird for years. Within the last couple of weeks I have noted 2 issues. 1st is the calendar issue with Reminder function. Reminder that have been listed w/ reminders, and repeated, for awhile, suddenly don't have the REMINDERS activate. They have in the past. Now, old events with REMINDERS, don't have the reminders activating. Nothing on the event listing has changed. I have reentered the event listing with no success in getting the reminder to activate. Interestingly enough, it doesn't affect ALL the events: just some. Same with ALL NEW EVENTS. Sometimes the event reminder activates and sometime not. Checked all the settings, version is up to date. I'm flummoxed.
2nd is addressing email. Names I have had in my address book for years, while coming in during auto-fill, are asterisked as not in the address book. I have reentered an asterisked listing but it still shows as not in the address book. Once again, it doesn't affect all listing, just some. I haven't anything & the version is up to date.
I've got a gremlin somewhere, but not adept enough to take a deep dive into operational settings.

I accidentally deleted a gmail account from thunderbird but I cannot reinstall it. If I go to new account, put in the user name and email there are green ticks. When I click on continue I receive a green tick and message 'configuration found in Monzilla ISPDB. But when I click on continue it takes me to what looks like google. The top of that page says 'enter credentials for xxx@gmail.com on imap.gmail.com. Below that is https://support.google.com/accounts/answer/32050?hl=en and a message to check the Monzilla support site for instructions. And the Monzilla page says 'waiting for authorisation in loginpopup' and a blue circle goes round and round.... Help!

Fixed this event reminder problem: checking the settings box to "Show missed reminders for writable calendars" enabled Thunderbird 139.0.2 to open the reminder box to show the event before it is going to happen, as well as showing the event after it was going to happen. Never had to explicitly do this with previous versions of Thunderbird in the 20+ years I have been using the Thunderbird calendar.

After updating to 140 (release update channel), IMAP folders keep downloading all emails in a folder, even though the vast majority of them are already local. I get the message "Downloading message x of y in folder" and it goes folder by folder, some of these folders have a lot of mail so this can take ages.
I do have a lot of folders and emails, I have tried compacting and searched for weeks, and only very old and not exactly this issue, any ideas?
