How may I search with DuckDuclGo and not goog? How may I remove the icons on the home page, none of which I use?

It is as the title states; keyword search, a feature that has been on Firefox desktop since... forever; and for the longest time in iOS, no longer works
This problem has surfaced a few times before, the feature going away, and a couple minor versions later it returns - but it has been since around v149 without this feature.
Is it going away?

I want to change my search engine to Firefox but I don’t see Firefox as a listed search engine that I can choose from. Does Mozilla have its own search engine? I don’t want to use the other listed choices such as Google or Bing.
