I have turned on compact mode, so i have to hover to the left side to access it. I usually go to the left side, it appears and i do what i wanna do. But today, when i go to the left side it appears as usual but automatically disappears again without me doing anything. Also if i click on something on the toolbar it does not register but it clicks on whatever website that is underneath it. It doesn't happen all time though, sometimes its working like before. I don't know how to find the exact cause.

Firefox freezes some seconds or some minute after I open the program, I end task and wait to reopen the program, opening up the program it continues to freeze. I've reset firefox multiple times, cleared cache & webdata, completly uninstalled FF and reinstalled it, doesn't solve it. Starting firefox in troubleshooting mode also freezes and hangs. After end tasking firefox multiple times it eventually stops freezing but during the next day when I open the browser the issue returns, The same goes after I reinstalled it after uninstalling it, works for the rest of the day but the next day the issue returns. Background: I switched from chrome to Firefox some months ago and imported webdata from chrome to FF.

Running Mac Sequoia 15.8.1 I launch Firefox, login to Amazon Prime and when I get to Amazon Prime Video page, Firefox freezes, won't respond at all, and play button shows a rotating circle (see attached). Firefox -does- play video on Youtube and other video websites. Safari on this same laptop plays Amazon Prime Video just fine. All other computers/browsers in my household utilize Firefox to play Amazon Prime Video just fine, so it's something out of whack on this MacBook pro. I have uninstalled and reinstalled Firefox several times with full reboots each time but to no avail. Please provide any other options.

Zombie Firefox processes block Firefox communication

When I use incognito mode and open and close multiple incognito tabs, closing the tabs and closing the last incognito mode browser instance leaves behind what appears to be Firefox processes for each closed tab. When I return to my open normal mode tabs, I cannot browse from the normal tabs, I get spinning circles and no progress. The only way to clear this is to close the normal browser and all its tabs, then use the task manager to manually end the remaining Firefox (zombie) tasks that seem to be left behind by the incognito tabs that were already closed. Then when I restart Firefox and restore my previous session, I can browse normally again.

It seems like there may be a bug here that the incognito tabs are not properly ending their processes when the tabs close. I have no involvement in the innards of Firefox, and simply wanted to report my difficult experiences to help in identifying problems. I am using Windows 11 and the latest version of Firefox - 158.0. I have seen this problem for at least a month or so. That means at least a few earlier versions of Firefox shared this issue.

I typically keep more than 10 tabs open in normal mode, and for incognito mode, I usually progress through at least ten more tabs, with two or three open at a time, but closing them after a few minutes as I complete each task. When I complete the browser tasks in incognito mode I make sure all the incognito tabs are closed. When I return to an open tab in normal mode and click on a link to browse onward, I never see any progress. I close the Firefox browser and all the normal tabs. I open the Windows task manager and even though I just closed Firefox, I see between 10 and 12 Firefox processes. I use the "end process" command in task manager to manually close what I think of as zombie Firefox processes. When I then open a new instance of Firefox, and use the History section to restore my previous session, all my normal mode tabs reopen, and I can use links in those tabs normally to proceed with browsing normally.

I am not familiar with the Firefox community and have not participated in your forums. I hope this might help you identify and fix any bug that may be present. I feel like I have a work around that is only slightly awkward.

This may be an old problem. In Linux, in bookmarks library, the scrollbar thumbs behave differently than in browser web pages. Even in new profile. This isn't a new issue for v157. Same behavior in any theme (any Fx themes, and / or diff 'Nix system themes).

I set scrollbars to disappear when not used or being hovered. On sites, when hover scrollbar area, they reappear. AND while pointer is over the track or thumb, it remains visible - does not reduce to an unusable width or disappear completely. As I think it should.

But in bookmarks library, the track & thumb disappear, even w/ pointer hovered, unless thumb is grabbed immediately. Even grabbing thumb & move it, then pause a fraction of second (still gripping thumb w/ L mouse button), the thumb & track STILL disappear. As long as you don't release grip (on now invisible thumb / track) they reappear when move pointer.

The bookmark library scrollbar behavior is also erratic. How long you have to grab it, when you 1st hover it. If you accidentally move pointer from folder pane, past vertical divider into bookmark pane, then left - back into folder pane, the scrollbar doesn't appear.

You have to move pointer well left of scrollbar, then approach it from the R, to make it reappear. It doesn't have any of this behavior in the browser (never has, AFAIK).

My Macbook Air (M1, 2020) has be moving slowly recently. I wondered if how I'm using Firefox could be contributing. I typically have two Firefox browser windows open, with 5 or 6 tab groups each with several tabs.

In addition and more specifically, I'm wondering if closing (collapsing) a tab group means those tabs won't be contributing to my computer's CPU load. Thank you.

Hi. My Macbook Air (M1, 2020) has been performing slowly in recent days. I'm not playing video games or watching videos, just mostly working on many tabs in Firefox (157.0.1). I looked in my Mac's Activity Monitor, which shows that Firefox GPU Helper is using about 5.75 GB of memory. The next few highest users say "Firefox Isolated Web Content." Could any of these be what is slowing my Mac down? I'll attach a screenshot of my Activity Monitor. I also clicked "Share Data" below. I would say that my Macbook is working at a fine speed at the moment, so perhaps the screenshot and data are not so helpful. Let me know if I can add something later in a reply, when my Mac is moving slowly, that would be helpful. Thanks.

What the living hell is this? This is prevalent on every PC I've installed FF. Just starting a clean browser with a single tab use 19GB of RAM within 1 second... No wonder why browsing been excruciatingly slow since the previous update.

Yes, I use add-ons like 90% of the users, but that should not warrant a serious and consistent memory leak.

Re: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1600764 . TL;DR, encountered this exact loading issue of firefox responding and after using a profile blamed it on a patience issue. I assumed so because my longest hang time would end up being ten minutes, which was the first time, never got past 5 minutes afterwards. Fast forward to now, it has been a few weeks since I used my pc due to general life business, so I had to turn it on, firefox opens, hang takes FIFTY MINUTES. I have also had to restart firefox several times due to missing updates and each and every hang time has taken a MINIMUM half an hour, and this is before giving up and closing the window on many instances. I have been sat here trying to do anything in firefox for over five hours now. The ONLY excuse that I can make up is the main reason I'm at my pc is because it needs updates and is currently downloading updates, so that is using a lot of my disc (I'm on an HDD if that's important), however it shouldn't take nearly an HOUR to use firefox for like a minute and then take ANOTHER hour simply due to hang time. I have also checked task manager and Firefox is using very little cpu (0%-2% at most) and not a lot of ram (initial hangs were down to ~50 mb, now it's around 300). The only thing I can think of is that the issue could be with the history file being corrupted, but since I have that synced with a mobile device, i don't know what that would do, nor do I want to lose my history, but otherwise i am at a loss and need more advice.

I started noticing that Firefox was giving me a lot of "not responding" freezes the past couple of weeks. The past couple of days I basically cannot access Firefox at all - constant, immediate freezing. I have tried uninstalling/reinstalling (multiple times), disabling hardware acceleration, running troubleshooter mode (still freezes! if it opens at all!), deleting profiles, restarting my computer, etc. I've done just about everything I can find online about this issue. Nothing has worked. I have no issues with Chrome or Edge.

Any suggestions??
