tipicalyi I create a new tab or window for links when reading a webpage then go to them for followup however many start autoplay and I end up with mulit playing at once in addition to auto content on the right side- flash I think how do I prevent pages from loading in advance until I click on them or prevent audio or video from playing before I manually click also flash content in sidebars gives me a headache- how to prevent or prevent running/ playing I do not have the bandwidth for this (and my internet does not either :) you could suggest eliminations from the below list or alternatives I also have chrome and Edge installed

second issue Hotmail/Outlook.com stops taking input- freezes sometimes refreshing helps for a while but eventually requires a reboot-- worse with Edge

I have two ideas here, please do correct me if they do not work. Firs change the auto play configuration in about:config

In order to change your Firefox Configuration please do the following steps :

  1. In the Location bar, type about:config and press Enter. The about:config "This might void your warranty!" warning page may appear.
  2. Click I'll be careful, I promise! to continue to the about:config page.
  3. search for media.autoplay.enabled and double click it to make it false.

Second, change the Flash play in about:addons to "Always Ask"

Note that setting media.autoplay.enabled to false can lead to some problems with playing media files via the HTML5 media player. We have seen a few questions reporting issues with either having to click the play button twice or not being able to start the playing at all without resetting the pref to true.
