Everytime I try to type in an address it does not autocomplete and my history bar is empty. I followed all the steps and check off keep history, bookmarks etc in the preferences menu and still nothing, I even deleted and re-installed it twice and nothing. It's so frustrating and it's making me want to switch to Chrome if the issue does not resolve. Can anyone help?

If you check your History menu, is Firefox recording history?

Yes:

Please check the Preferences page, Privacy panel, toward the bottom, to make sure "History" is selected for address bar autocomplete. This article has more information: Address bar autocomplete suggestions in Firefox (skip to the section "How can I control what results the location bar shows me?").

No:

Could you check that you are not in automatic private browsing mode? This also would be set on the Preferences page, Privacy panel. If the selector says "Firefox will: Never remember history" please change that to "Firefox will: Use custom settings for history". Then you can see and uncheck the box for always using private browsing. This article has more information: Settings for privacy, browsing history and do-not-track.

Any progress so far?

You can check for problems with the places.sqlite database file (bookmarks, history) in the Firefox profile folder.

If the Places Maintenance extension can't repair the places.sqlite database file then remove all places.sqlite file(s) in the Firefox profile folder to make Firefox rebuild the places.sqlite database file from the most recent JSON backup in the bookmarkbackups folder.

Make sure that you do not run Firefox in permanent Private Browsing mode (Always use Private Browsing mode; never remember history).
