Every time i click a link, a new tab opens. This has become very frustrating, as i have tried almost everything! This is also happening in Google chrome. I have tried searching 'about:config' into the address bar, but I'm just not sure what to look for or what to do when i find it. I have also tried changing my Firefox settings, but alas the problem continues to occur.

I don't know why/how its happening, but its really annoying! Help would be much appreciated if at all possible. Thanks :)

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox menu button/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.

  • Switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox menu button/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance
  • Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window

You can open the about:config page via the location/address bar. You can accept the warning and click "I'll be careful" to continue.
