Hi,

T.B 38.2.0

I turned on this morning, to find that my TB won't send or receive anything. I also got the message (see image) about Invalid Certificate. Yesterday, things were fine. Have I done anything wrong ? As far as I'm aware, I haven't added or removed anything.

When trying to send an email, I get the next error - see image 2:

have you tried restarting your computer?

Hi Matt,

Yep - the machine's been on & off a few times now,,,, as has Thunderbird.

Access to the internet is fine, it just seems to be T.B.

Am wondering whether to uninstall > reinstall.

What's the general consensus ?

I think the problem is either corrupt files. or an anti virus program.

a reinstall is not often very helpful as it does not affect settings. But in this case it should test the corrupt files theory by replacing them.

If that does not work, I would try Windows safe mode with Networking. This loads only the very basics needed to start your computer while enabling an Internet connection. Click on your operating system for instructions on how to start in safe mode: Windows 8, Windows 7, Windows Vista, Windows XP, OSX

If safe mode for the operating system fixes the issue, there's other software in your computer that's causing problems. Possibilities include but not limited to: AV scanning, virus/malware, background downloads such as program updates.

Thanks again,

I tried Safe Mode, but it didn't help me to notice anything wrong. As I was getting nowhere, I did uninstall this version. I left it a day or so, and installed again - to no avail.

As I can't use it, I may as well look for an alternative program.

Thanks for your help.

I gave you advice, your chose to ignore it. You will not do any better with any other mail program that has been updated recently than you will do with Thunderbird.. But go right ahead, windows live mail is simple, and every anti virus vendor tests against it, they would not consider releasing a product they did not test against a Microsoft product.

? Not sure what you mean about ignoring your advice. I thought I HAD tried what you said - in my last message.

Have I missed something ?
