When I try to open Thunderbird it keeps giving me a message that it is trying trouble install a new helper tool and asks for my password. I do so, hit the Install Helper button, and then nothing ever happens. I get a spinning beach ball and it never opens no long how I wait. I would be very grateful for any suggestions or advice on what to do.

I have installed Thunderbird 150.0 on an Ubuntu 24.04 desktop using a downloaded TAR installation method. I have done this, as I use OWL for Microsoft Exchange accounts. OWL works better with the current version of Thunderbird.

I have created a desktop launcher (thunderbird-150.desktop), which works fine, except that the software icon is the generic Gnome gear. I have read that specifying the WMClass correctly in the launcher file (in /usr/share/applications) is the solution, but this does not seem to work. It is current set as WMClass=thunderbird. I have also noticed that the /opt/thunderbird/icons folder does not contain the Thunderbird icon.

Can anyone help me to fix this annoying issue?

The website https://www.thunderbird.net/en-US/thunderbird/all/ provides portable download for Linux, but I seem to understand there's no such a version for Linux ARM (aarch64).

Is that planned in the future?

I've been having a number of problems with Thunderbird recently and I'm hoping that deleting and reinstalling the app might help. But I worry that I will lose emails by doing this. I'm also wondering if the numerous folders I've set up will disappear as well. The issues I've been having, by the way, are emails consistently going into the wrong folder and, most recently, constantly being asked for my passwords. (I have emails from four email addresses being downloaded by Thunderbird.) I've had the password issue in years past, but it always seemed to resolve itself.

I have no idea what to do now that I have downloaded Thunderbird email on my Surface 4. I can't find any directions anywhere on how to get started with it.! Outlook, while not secure, was certainly easy to set up and use.

Suite a cela j'ai redemandais à réinstaller Thunderbird dans mon ordi ,mais je n'y arrive pas ???

I have a costumer in my store that uses Thunderbird, it has worked fine for him for years without any issues.

But now for some reason random emails get saved to his desktop, and has no idea why that is happening.

I have checked settings to make sure it doesnt save anything to the desktop, the folder is set to save inside appdata/roaming

We have tried updating the program with no luck so far, just updated it again today. Costumer is nervous towards deleting the program and setting up his email again, I have told him that his emails and folders wont be effected. But still doesnt want us to do it.

So unless you can give confirmation that nothing will happen to his files and folders he wont let us reinstall the program.

Can you let us know if its a known bug or better yet, give us a solution, we would both be very grateful.

Hello, I went to https://archive.mozilla.org/pub/thunderbird/releases/ or perhaps it was from https://releases.mozilla.org/pub/thunderbird/releases/ and downloaded the thunderbird-60.6.1.source.tar.xz package, unarchived it and am now stumped :) How to proceed from there?

1. Where can I find the release notes for Thunderbird versions?

2. I mistakenly installed v148.0 from the release channel, when I really want the ESR version. This article says, " "Still unsure which channel to use? Start with the Thunderbird Release channel. You can always switch later if your needs change." and this thread says that one can perform the necessary downgrade by simply deleting the compatiblity.ini file from the profile folder. However, the current release channel version (149) and the version I have installed (148.0.1) are far ahead of the ESR version (140.8.1). I have already configured 8 IMAP accounts and 4 add-ons and would like to retain my existing profile. Can I simply downgrade by deleting the compatiblity.ini file from the profile folder or do I risk data corruption due to changes to the data structures? Can I simply install ESR 140.8.1 over 148.0.1 or do I first need to uninstall 148.0.1?

Will thunderbird run on an iMac With a M4 chip? I’ve tried to move the app from an older iMac to my new one and all I get when I open it is a message that it’s corrupted,

I'm trying to setup this Thunderbird app on my android phone and in the setup process it wants me to scan i guess a QR code from my laptop with Thunderbird on it. I don't have Thunderbird on my laptop so I can't continue to set the app up on my phone. I need a work,-around for this. I do however have a Mozilla Firefox account and I logged into that but it didn't seem to make any difference

Athough you advertise Thunderbird as a free product, your website does not allow me to download it unless I first pay. I am unwilling to pay until I have been able to test the product and verify that it will do what I need it to do.

I have downloaded Thunderbird from official Mozilla homepage. It seems to be installed correct. I got the icon and a question : should we start Thunderbird now. I answer yes. Then I get the message : Thunderbird is not found ? but I have just loaded it ? I am running windows 11 and I have got newest upgrade.

PS I also have a PC running Linux Mint. Loading Thunderbird here was no problem.
