One day, I opened the browser after starting up my computer, but it didn't open properly and froze. I did "alt+ctrl+del" and closed the browser, but when I tried opening it again, it showed: "Well, this is embarrassing. Firefox is having trouble recovering your windows and tabs. This is usually caused by a recently opened web page. You can try: - Removing one or more tabs that you think may be causing the problem - Start an entirely new browsing session

[Restore] [Start new session]"

It won't let me click on either Restore, or Start new session, because the application is still frozen and the disc (I have Windows 7) in place of the carsol is twirling.

I've tried shutting the computer down once and restarting it, doing "ctrl+alt+del" multiple times, but it is repeatedly the same thing.

I am not able to try in Safe Mode, because there is no Firefox button at the top of the window (the screen looks like it is in full screen mode).

The attached bug report is a crash with the plugin-container, so you can check for problems with plugins as well.

I am not using Windows at present, but thought maybe on recent versions Ctrl+Alt+Del had been replaced with another combination. If Firefox hangs you will need to kill the process firefox.exe and possibly also containerplugin.exe. Normally it would not be necessary to reboot or turn of the computer.

You may start Firefox in safe mode by more than one method, holding shift whilst starting for instance (in Windows).

Thanks for your replies.

The problem has been solved (before I got your responses). I just waited for quite some time after I clicked "Wait for program to respond" on one of the pop-up windows that popped up, and after that wait I was able to click on "Restore" at the bottom of the screen, and the browser started functioning as normal again.
