Firefox will not open because "error:platform version 1.9.2.13 is not compatable with min version>=1.9.2.12 or maxVersion<=1.9.2.12 " is in a window when I open Firefox>

It started a year ago when I opened Firefox I got an error message, so I removed firefox & re-installed it. Still no go! So I opened "C" drive & searched for anything "firefox" & found a 2002 version!! I deleted everything, restart, & installed firefox and what I get now is what you see above. OS is XPpro, sp3 + many updates.

Do a clean (re)install:

  • Download a fresh Firefox copy and save the file to the desktop.
  • http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/all.html
  • Uninstall your current Firefox version and remove the Firefox program folder before installing that copy of the Firefox installer.
  • Don't remove personal data if you uninstall the current version.
  • It is important to delete the Firefox program folder to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling.

Your bookmarks and other profile data are stored elsewhere (not in the Firefox program folder) and won't be affected by a reinstall, but make sure that you do not select to remove personal data if you uninstall Firefox.

Well, I did as your mail said. I opened "C" drive & searched for firefox. Only 2 programs found. A download I did march 5th & today's download!! I deleted the download of the 5th & again from the recycle bin, then a restart. When I was operational, I ran the new program & when it was done, I opened FIREFOX!! A change! A popup! "error: Platform version 1.9.2.15 (?) is not compatable with min Version >=1.9.2.12 max Version<= 1.9.2.12 I don't know if this is affecting or causing my problem. My internet explorer is running without ADD ONS ?? I tried to send you a pix of the rejection but it's not compatable with your program.

Did you delete the Firefox program folder ("C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\") ?

When I did my first cleanout I opened "C" drive & searched & removed everything with Firefox and/or Mozilla. With the first reinstall I used ADD& REMOVE progam. This is the SECOND reinstall. This time the reject says version is now .15 instead of .13
