The "Remember Password" volatile menu bar no longer displays when I enter a required site login/password data.

When I attempt to log into a site that requires login / password data, the pop-up menu bar that would ask whether to save this password data or not momentarily displays then disappears befor I can tick my choice.

I tried re-installing Firefox but that didn't change the situation.

Please help as I can't log into a local server any more that requires login / password credentials.
