Images don't show in emails even if I allow remote content. Just migrated to Windows from Linux.
Hello: I recently migrated a large Thunderbird installation on a Linux laptop to my Windows 11 laptop(Thunderbird 15.0). I followed the directions to copy the profile folder and was very happy it seemed to work well. All the old emails are there and I can send/receive new emails. I am unable to see all images inline when viewing an email in the message pane. It seems this applies to some images with links. I've searched the community a few times and tried several options but it hasn't helped. Any ideas are appreciated. Thanks.
Tony

Thunderbird 15 came out in 2012, fourteen years ago. So you should consider upgrading to whatever is the most recent version your operating system supports. The current release version is 159.0.
It's not necessarily unusual that some images aren't displayed. It depends on several factors - the message itself could be poorly-crafted and contains invalid HTML code, it could be that the link itself could be bad, it could be that the image hosting site blocks linking, it could be that the site serves images via scripts, not directly, which isn't allowed in Thunderbird for security reasons.

What version of Thunderbird (I suppose "15.0" is a typo)?
Does this happen with all emails with image links, or only certain ones?
We'd have to see the raw source of the email in question to be sure, but this is usually due to the image being restricted by the server, often by server-side scripting or redirection. Thunderbird doesn't allow remote scripts to run.
When I look at about Thunderbird or Troubleshooting Info it says 15.0
Application Basics
Name Thunderbird
Version 15.0
Some images seem to displayed ok, but others show a box or a description of the link. Seems pretty strange.

Thank you very much for your response. I downloaded the suggested level and it has fixed the problem I was seeing. I'm not sure what I did differently as I thought I updated the installed level to the latest available before I migrated my previous installation from my other laptop. Again many thanks.
