Works fine here. Did you try Troubleshoot mode? https://support.mozilla.org/kb/troubleshoot-mode-thunderbird

Thanks, it turns that my problem is with my new wireless keyboard that I got at the same time as TB 147. With it I must press the ctrl key before shift. If I do so I get my search window and all other nice benefits of the ctrl-key. H
