It is important to understand that thunderbird is but an agent. Had you contacted netaddress, you would have been told that their POP server is down.

Thunderbird reported it accessed the host and then that there were no new messages. A better error message should have indicated the pop server was down.

On Netaddress their incident report showed trouble with phone calls and text messages....not email.
