After updating to Ubuntu 24.04 LTS, Thunderbird can no longer connect to gmx.de (IMAP). What can I do to re-establish the connection?

Probably use a non sandboxed version of the software. Forums have been full of mystery issues since the latest Ubuntu update switched everyone to snap packages.
