Transfering emails to a new laptop using Thunderbird

I have been stuggling to transfer my emails from a windows PC using Windows live Mail, to a laptop using Thunderbird. I have just spoken to my email provider (Plusnet) and they have sent a test email which is received by Thunderbird. But all my emails keep arriving on the old machine. Any suggestions which might help me? David Owen

Please be more specific in your problem definition. It seems you have Windows Live Mail on one PC and Thunderbird on another. It also appears that you can receive mail on Thunderbird, so I'm unclear on the problem.
