Don't like PWA, please bring back 'add to homescreen' bookmarking/shortcut option.

I used to be able to add a specific web site address to the Android homescreen, saving me several steps to get there from the web site homepage. Now 'add to homescreen' has been replaced with 'install' a PWA and having a shortcut to the desired web page is lost.

I want to have a shortcut for this link - https://www.brasil247.com/authors/pedro-simonard The 'install' PWA takes me to the 'brasil247' homepage with no address bar and no easy and fast way to get to Pedro Simonard's articles. Before this change was made, I created a homescreen shortcut with the old Firefox that still works to open Firefox instead of a PWA. Or was it a widget Firefox used to have for Android?

Please bring back the shortcut Firefox widget or whatever it was that allows a shortcut to be placed on the Android homescreen.

Thanks for reading and have a nice day.

Hi

I was able to do this for the site that you mention.

Make sure that you have removed the site from your browsing history.

Then open the site in Firefox for Android. As it opens, open the menu and select "Add to home screen". The site will then be added as a bookmark, rather than a PWA.

I hope that this helps.

I have installed on Android the Firefox Daylight 90.1.3 and it doesn't have "Add to home screen" only "Install".

In settings, 'open links in apps' is disabled. I deleted all history and it still does not work.

Hmm, that menu item seems to vary between sites. On my site, it matches what Seburo described, and on your site, it matches what you described. Maybe there is some tag in the page that triggers the change to Install.
