Using Tbird 64.4.0 running under W7 (64bit).

Recently noticed several changes in Tbird function. The one that buffaloes me this week is that when I am composing a new message, starting from the WRITE button on the toolbar, the shell presented for drafting the new message does NOT contain a Menu bar. I need to find a way to attach documents to the message.... but there's no way to find an ATTACH command. All the Tbird support narratives show me that Tbird now has the standard browser-style options menu (stack of 3 horizontal lines in upper right-hand corner). The problem is that those options don't seem to do anything to touch or modify the shell for a new message.

Looking at all this today, I find that the Tbird release I'm using is 32-bit version. Is there a current 64-bit version? If so, will need some guidance on installing the new 64 bit v. without losing a draft that is currently saved in the Tbird draft folder. It's not in the Gmail online draft folder, because I have not been using an IMAP protocol.

Could someone please provide some guidance on 1) how to attach docs using what's in place on my machine now? Or if that's not possible, how to migrate to a current version appropriate to my OS? ( ...safely, without losing the history of messages in all the various Tbird folders.) Thanks for your help, DeanSenior

In the Write window, press the Alt key to show the Menu Bar, then enable all the items under View/Toolbars. Attach files from the menu command, or drag files from Windows Explorer and drop them onto the area beside the addressing boxes.

The 64-bit Windows version of TB has not been officially released, and the 32-bit version works fine on 64-bit Windows.

The hidden Menu Bar can be revealed by pressing the alt key or F10. These shortcuts for hidden menu bar have worked in most applications since the beginning of Windows.

When you get the Menu Bar showing, click View-Toolbars and click on your missing toolbars.

There is no 64 bit version.

This forum is so useful... answers to specific predicaments, without using up the time it takes to identify the needed answers in prepared documentation. Dean
