Port Thunderbird to new (64-bit) computer; can't figure out how to port the old system messages.
On my old computer (32-bit) running Windows 7 Professional, I had Thunderbird installed normally except that in Account Settings I pointed Th. to the directory c:\email, and this worked with no problems. I installed Th. on my new 64-bit machine and pointed it to c:\email, as with the old machine. [Note: I upgraded Th. to the latest version on this machine.]
This no longer works correctly -- Th. displays the old folders, but the contents (all the emails) do not show up; i.e. the folders are all empty. I have tried to move the \email directory to where Th. expects to find email, but I don't know where to put it, and whether I have to modify the way the folders are structured in order to see their contents. Note that I have found where the newly-acquired messages are stored (having re-directed Th. to the default directory.
So, what I need is a comprehensive document or documents which describe all the mechanics of Th., both in the latest version (60.0, 32-bit) and in some of the fairly recent older versions. Thanks in advance for any help offered.

Sorry about the delay in responding. I finally got the mail files moved to the right place, and Tbird now sees them. Thanks a bunch!
