Change Arrangement of Location Bar Search Results

The layout of the suggested search results using the location bar isn't how I am used to after updating to Firefox 50.

How can I change it back to how it was in, say, Firefox 44? I'm not entirely sure what's changed, only that it's definitely different and that I don't like it. I think it's the fact that the URL is displayed to the right (after) the page title rather than first (before) and the page title in a larger font size.

Firefox 48 introduced the new one-line layout for the drop-down.

If you want to revert to the older "stacked" style, you have several choices, including:

(1) The Classic Theme Restorer extension

  • If you already use this, look in its settings under Location Bar (3).
  • If you do not, this extension is a time machine for the whole interface! You can use it just for individual features if you like, or tweak to your heart's content. Classic Theme Restorer

(2) Custom style rules

The easiest way to apply, edit, and experiment with custom style rules for Firefox's interface is to use the Stylish extension. Once you have that, you can easily install my user style for the drop-down.

If you don't want any more extensions: it's possible to apply custom style rules to Firefox's interface using a userChrome.css file. More info: http://kb.mozillazine.org/UserChrome.css

Any of that help?

If you were used to a single line with the URL on the left, perhaps you were using the Old Location Bar extension before? I have a similar layout in my userstyle.

Ah, I thought I had the current version of CTR and I did not. I'll try the update first. Thanks.
