Will Roboform and Speed Dial still work in v47.0?

On too many occasions in the past when accepting 'upgrade' Roboform in particular was left unsupported and I had to waste time in 'downgrading'. I cannot afford to lose Roboform again. I'm also concerned about Speed Dial. I used the fix suggested for my present version of Firefox (v46.0.1) which, if I understand the caveat given at the time, may allow rogue add-ons or plug-ins to install themselves. I currently use:

  Roboform
  Speed Dial
  Google analytics opt-out
  ABP
  Garmin Communicator.

Sorry if this sounds picky! Regards...

Personally I agree that it is rather annoying that Firefox often breaks thing on upgrades. It would be nice if it warned clearly in advance of the actual install completion what is being disabled, and allowed the upgrade to be postponed a day or so. The other side of the coin is that any plugin or addon developer knows Firefox's release dates, and like everyone else may easily get hold of the Pre Release Firefox versions to test their software.

Possibly you should review your strategy with regard to security. Whilst you may try to keep your passwords secure it is a serious security issue to then use an old browser that effectively screams out please hack me.

Roboform's site only seems to mention compatibility with Firefox 46.

if Roboform is mainly a password manager it is possibly worth considering using Firefox's built in master password and remembering logins that way.

Or I am sure there are many other password managers about that are either compatible with Firefox or standalone. Detailed discussion is outside the scope of this forum. Other alternative simple solutions would be to Zip a file and have that open only with a password, or use say the free Libre Office and create a password protected document.

Speed Dial

Does appear compatible with Fx47 and beyond.

For security and Safety you should really put priority on using the current secure and supported Firefox version not old versions. Once new versions are released fixes are announced and the bad guys take advantage of those to attack users of old versions. Every version is likely to have major security fixes.

John, thank you. I understand your point and I will update. Just to explain my reasoning (find holes in it if you would) is that Roboform is 'portable' in that not every site supports Firefox and Ioftenhave to revert to (and wash my mouth out with soap and water) MS Internet Explorer - there, I've said it. Also if Firefox's password manager becomes the popular default, then in my mind this cold be first choice for hackers and malware rather than Roboform. I'll go for v47 when I have a day with nothing else urgent to give me time to revert if needed. Thanks again.
