Why does my Thunderbird have both Junk & Junkmail Folders?

Thunderbird creates a Junk folder if and only if you setup Junk Controls. http://kb.mozillazine.org/Junk_Mail_Controls
It appears that Microsoft email, pick a name of the month, Outlook, Hotmail, etc, uses Junk Mail Folder.
The article linked above tells you how to use the Thunderbird controls. If your Hotmail account created the other one you need to ask them.
