How do I re-synch the mail folders?

The folders shown in Thunderbird are missing some from my email providers IMAP folders.

I am also unable to create a new sub-folder in Thunderbird.

Right click the account in the folder pane and select subscribe. Make sure the folder you want to see are subscribed.
