While browsing using Firefox today, a new tab opened asking me to click on a button to update Firefox. Since Firefox normally updates automatically I felt this was a scam and did not press the button. Your site confirms my Firefox is the latest version.

Is this a known/new attempt at virus installation - assuming it was not a genuine page. If so, people need to be warned.

Thanks

Hello jpweir,

Thanks for your concern.

This is possibly a fake update notice.

Firefox updates is done either as a software update in Firefox by way of a .mar file or by downloading it from mozilla.org and never by as a small .exe like this especially since Firefox is also for Mac OSX and Linux.
