Need to get back a part flv that Firefox downloaded but cancelled before it finished.
I have spent the last 7 hours downloading a .flv which just stopped downloading for no reason I could see. However, I was watching the first hour of the flv while it was downloading, although not when it stopped, that happened a couple of hours after I finished watching it, but now Firefox 'cancelled' the download when I put it on pause and restarted it and my precious .flv got deleted and I can't find it anywhere as I would keep what I have got and be happy with that. I have gone through about:cache and found several items that would apply to the Youtube flv but they are only 'files' and not videos. How can I get this video back as I am never going to download it again knowing that it will take at least 10 hours and be about 3gbs (no more) in size (1/10th of my monthly data allowance)? It was definitely there and I could watch the first hour as I said, so hopefully I can get it back. This happened to me once before, the 148mb downloaded video stopped 1mb before the finish and would do nothing, but I sensibly copied the video to another place on my hard disk so I still had it when Firefox arbitrarily deletes every unfinished video. Any help to get this video back would be highly appreciated.

I didn't understand what you mean precisely, but I know that if your downloads are accidently stopped and cannot be resumed, there is a trick to use:
1. Copy or cut the file with '.part' extension that was made by Firefox to another place
2. Restart your download and let Firefox make a new file with .part extension
3. Overwrite the new .part file with your old file that was copied to another place in step 1
4. Resume your download!

It may be better to use an external download manager to download such large files if you do not have a (super) fast connection or if the server isn't fast enough (in that case try to download on another time wen the server isn't to busy). Note that your ISP also can have a restriction when downloading large files.
You can try these steps to resume an unfinished download when you still have the .part file.
- Move the old .part partial download and the final file without the .part that has size 0 to another location.
- Start a new download and pause it, don't close Firefox.
- Copy the two files (.part and 0 byte final) that you moved above back to the download location to replace the new files that were created.
- Resume the download in Firefox.
If that doesn't work then the server may not support resuming.
Thank you both very much for your replies, but I don't have a .part file at all, Firefox deleted the whole darned file when it cancelled the download. So I can't resurrect a .part file.
I have the same problem. Firefox has deleted the .part file.. can somebody tell us where to find the .part file so that i can solve this
