How can I print double-sided?

On my laptop running Windows 7, there is a check-box to print double sided. My new printer (old one perished in some excessive rainfall induced sewer failure) duplexes automatically, so I enjoy using that feature when possible. However, when I try to print on my new computer running Windows 8 (previous computer met same fate as printer), there is no place I can find to influence the dialog box to offer me duplex printing. Please help.

Are both your Windows 7 and Windows 8 64-bit systems? There often are differences between 32-bit and 64-bit device drivers. Also, Brother says that it offers its own drivers in addition to the ones included with Windows 8.

This issue came up recently with a Brother printer and I don't think we got to the bottom of it. Still, something in this discussion might help with your printer: why can't I print duplex with firefox when I can with i-explorer?

I actually have the same printer - Brother HL2270DW. On my Windows 8 machine there is no place to choose duplex in the print dialogue box or the properties accessed from the print dialogue box. On my Windows 7 laptop, the print dialogue box is the same, but the properties button pulls up a Brother Solution Center which has duplex printing available. Chrome on the respective machines has the same ability to duplex print as Firefox (not in 8 but yes in 7), but without the Brother Solution Center. Is this possibly a short-coming in Windows 8?

That was it. Thank you for thinking of it, and now maybe you can help that other discussion as well!

Be well,
