To clarify your problem is that firefox won't launch after you double-clicked the icon. Right!?

If, so the only way to fix it is to change the path of the icon.

  1. Right Click the Icon
  2. Go to Properties
  3. Change Target to: "C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe"
  4. Change Start In to: "C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox" without the quotes for both.

I recommend after fixing the problem you should scan your computer using Windows Defender.

Is the shortcut path correct? You can check that by right-clicking the icon and choosing Properties. If the path to the application does not match the path in the shortcut, it will not work.

It is possible that your security software firewall, anti-virus) blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.

Remove all rules for Firefox and the plugin-container from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.
