Firefox 18.0 crashes when I shut down Firefox on a 32-bit computer. OK in 64-bit computer.
Firefox 18.0 works well when I open it on a 32-bit desktop. I can open any website (I use only one tab). But when I shut down Firefox, I get the "Firefox crashed" message. It reloads ok, but I've never had this problem with any Firefox version before. I downloaded another copy of 18.0 and the same thing happened. 18.0 works perfectly on a 64-bit laptop. Both computers are wired to the router. I keep my security, Windows 7, etc. updated.
If I can download 17.x, I'd like to see if it happens there, too It never did before. I would appreciate your suggestions. Thanks.

If you have submitted crash reports then please post the IDs of one or more crash reports that have this format:
- bp-xxxxxxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxxxxxxxxxx
You can find the IDs of the submitted crash reports on the about:crashes page.
- You can open the about:crashes page via the location bar, like you open a website.

Try the Firefox Safe Mode to see how it works there. The Safe Mode is a troubleshooting mode, which disables most add-ons.
(If you're not using it, switch to the Default theme.)
- You can open the Firefox 4.0+ Safe Mode by holding the Shift key when you use the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
- Or use the Help menu item and click on the Restart with Add-ons Disabled... menu item while Firefox is running.
Don't select anything right now, just use "'Start in Safe Mode" To exit the Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds before using the Firefox shortcut (without the Shift key) to open it again. If it is good in the Firefox Safe Mode, your problem is probably caused by an extension, and you need to figure out which one.

When you figure out what's causing your issues, please let us know. It might help other users who have the same problem.

Thanks to the two people who responded. Both provided guidance that pointed me to information from which I learned the diagnostic process to isolate what was causing the Firefox crash at Firefox shutdown.
Here's what I did: I first backed up my Firefox exceptions to a file. I then uninstalled and reinstalled Firefox 18.0 and replaced the default exceptions with my file.
I opened FF and disabled all the extensions. Then, one at a time, I enabled each extension and shutdown FF. The only one that caused the crash was the Norton Toolbar.
However, it may not have been necessary to uninstall FF in the first place. This time when I added each exception, I clicked the "Reload" or "Restart" link near each extension's name. I used the "Exit" in the FF pull-down menu to close the program each time.
If I had to do this again, I would skip the uninstall/reinstall cycle, and first try what I did in the above paragraph. I hope this will help someone else.
