Location bar autofill not working.
I used firefox a long time ago before it got slow. I just downloaded the newest version 6.0.2 to give it another chance.
I cannot get autofill to work in the address bar. Supposedly you just type about:config in the bar, and change the following entry to true...
browser.urlbar.autoFill;true (copy pasted)
which I did.
I have restarted the browser several times and gone to the same site several times in a row and still not getting any autofill at all. my test site has been facebook.
Autofill is a huge time saver when u can open your browser, hit f enter and be at facebook.
By the way, Im really amazed at how slow firefox still is compared with IE and Chrome. I feel like Im on a 10 year old computer when I used firefox and Im on an asus g73 gaming laptop. It isn't my internet. Google chrome is instant in pretty much everything, IE isn't quite as good but more compatible. I wish firefox would go back to being super fast like it was years ago.

Firefox is slow in what sense ?? Slow at Startup ?? OR Slow in Loading Websites ??
Your Flash plugin is quite older. You need to update it.
Adobe Flash Player 10.3.183.7 (2.94 MB)
When Downloading Plugins Update setup files, Remove Checkmark from Downloading other Optional Softwares with your Plugins (e.g. Toolbars, McAfee, Google Chrome, etc.)
Update All your Firefox Plugins
I discovered shortly after making this post that for autofill to work you have to type www. lol... I then immediately uninstalled firefox while laughing at its awful design.
And yes to all of the above, slow startup, slow page loading, just bad all around. Yes, I ran in safe mode on fresh install and its just as bad.

I use auto-fill all the time and i don't need to type www to bring up an already browsed website. I just type fa and facebook comes up.
-> click Firefox button and click Options -> Privacy panel
- History section -> under Firefox will: select "Use Custom Settings for History" -> REMOVE Checkmark from Permanent Private Browsing mode -> place Checkmarks on:
- 1) Remember my Browsing History 2) Remember Download History 3) Remember Search and Form History 4) Accept Cookies from sites -> 5) Accept Third-party Cookies -> under Keep Until : select They Expire
- -> REMOVE CHECKMARK from CLEAR HISTORY WHEN FIREFOX CLOSES
- Location Bar section -> under When using the Location bar, suggest select History or History and Bookmarks
-> Click OK on Options window -> Restart Firefox
Check and tell if its working.
-> IF you use Clear Recent History feature, DO NOT select Browsing and Download History item
-> IF you use Privacy Cleanup softwares like CCleaner etc., DON'T SELECT FIREFOX IN ITS SETTINGS. These softwares can be responsible for Deleting your Firefox Settings.

There is a difference between autofill as "inline autocomplete" (browser.urlbar.autoFill) and autocomplete (browser.urlbar.autocomplete.enabled) via the drop down list.
The latter is controlled by Firefox (Tools) > Options > Privacy > Location Bar: When using the location bar
I'm having the same issue and I'm going to have to switch to Safari or Chrome if it isn't fixed. An extra 5 minutes every day of typing the entire URLs is 1,800 minutes a year, which comes out to be 30 hours or the difference between a week of work or vacation. Do I want to spend my vacation typing URLs? Noooo.
Even if you spend 2 minutes a day typing out URLs, that's 12 hours a year - a full day and a half of work per year - and a week of work every 3 years. Ugh. It's actually more that typing in the domain. I have to type in the domain, then navigate to the page I want within the site. Auto-complete normally should show all the pages at a site I've been to and I can click the one I want.
Mozilla people - please fix this soon. Thanks.
Also, fyi, I did all the steps for turning on the feature and choosing the right settings. I've checked twice. It's working at my other browsers Safari and Chrome but not here, so I'm going to use them and check FF from time to time to see if the problem's been repaired.
You can set the pref browser.urlbar.trimURLs to false on the about:config page to see the http: protocol.
You can set the pref browser.urlbar.formatting.enabled to false on the about:config page to disable the highlighting of the domain and see the full URL more clearly.
To open the about:config page, type about:config in the location (address) bar and press the "Enter" key, just like you type the url of a website to open a website.
If you see a warning then you can confirm that you want to access that page.
- Use the Filter bar at to top of the about:config page to locate a preference more easily.
- Preferences that have been modified show as bold (user set).
- Preferences can be reset to the default via the right-click context menu if they are user set
- Preferences can be changed via the right-click context menu: Modify (String or Integer) or Toggle (Boolean)
