Firefox 4 and 5 refuse to replace my Firefox 3.6. Dragging the Firefox icon to the Applications icon never succeeds.

I tried installing Firefox 4 several times, and Firefox 5 several times. Each time, I got only as far as the window with the Firefox and Applications icons. When I dragged the Firefox icon onto the Applications icon and released it, it bounced back to its former position. Firefox 3.6 remained the only installed version.
