I used to be able to type anything into my location bar and be taken to a google search result of whatever I typed. I recently updated to Windows 7 Professional and when I re-downloaded firefox, I noticed this feature was not working. When I type a word into the location bar, instead of performing a search for the word, I get taken to http://word/, a "test page for SSL/TLS-aware Apache installation on web site" which says

"Hey, it worked ! The SSL/TLS-aware Apache webserver was successfully installed on this website.

If you can see this page, then the people who own this website have just installed the Apache Web server software and the Apache Interface to OpenSSL (mod_ssl) successfully. They now have to add content to this directory and replace this placeholder page, or else point the server at their real content. "

I have tried the about:config switches, reset my keyword.url, turned my keyword search on and off, turned my url completion on and off, and nothing fixes it. I don't know what changed, but I used to be able to look up word definitions by typing them into my location bar and seeing the first google search response that came up, and now I can't.

You can modify the pref keyword.URL on the about:config page to use Google's "I'm Feeling Lucky" or Google's "Browse By Name".

I've tried modifying my keyword.url and it does nothing. I still get redirected to an "test page" with the word I'm searching for with an http:// in front of it.
