I have three installations of Firefox 4.0.1 on two machines (two fixed, one PortableApps). They are all set up to synchronise.

Since yesterday, all are showing an error at the bottom of the window saying "Sync encountered an error while connecting: Server incorrectly configured. Please try again."

I've made no configuration changes to the synch in the last few days, nor have I updated the Firefox version.

Is there a problem with the synch server?

Regards

Nick

I have been having problems with the Sync in my HTC EVO 4G in the last two days. I have deleted the Sync account in my EVO and create a new one in my laptop three times now, still it did not sync successfully (though it synced successfully in my laptop). I am pretty sure there's an error with the Firefox Sync server lately, which is not unusual.

I'm a bit reluctant to start deleting and re-creating synch keys and so on until I know if it's the server that's at fault. Your experience strongly suggests that it is.

I would not recommend you to delete and recreate the sync keys in your MAIN COMPUTER. What I did is in the OTHER ONE, which is my HTC EVO, which has no effect on what was synced in the past.

From my personal experiences, the Sync will eventually become normal and all will be synced successfully, which usually within two days.

For the time being, I would recommend you also use Xmarks and LastPass to backup your bookmarks and passwords, if you think it's necessary, as a standby. Personally, I do not and will not depend on Firefox Sync, because it has been having lots of problems ever since it was incorporated into Firefox 4 as a default function.

Is there any official page where Moz folks post details of the status of the server?

I don't think so. They do have a forum but wasn't used and being attended much:

I don't think Firefox Sync is one of the projects that Mozilla paid much attention to. There's really not much support anywhere I can find on the Web.
