You need to contact the developers of Upek Protector Suite about their plans for supporting Firefox 4. It is quite common for companies to only support a new version of a browser after it has been officially released, and not support it during the beta/release candidate phase.

Yes I already contacted Upek and they said they are working on an update. That could mean tomorrow or next year so i thought there may be a workaround.

For what it's worth, simply hacking the xpi file to allow it to install under FF 4.0 don't work. If a hack is possible, it's more complex than that.

Bottom line, we are at the mercy of UPEK/AuthenTec. Let's hope they will release it soon.

I contacted Upek about this and got the following reply:

We are already working on the Password Bank support for Firefox 4. It should be supported in the upcoming release (5.9.5), which is scheduled to beginning of April so please keep checking our web pages!

Yes, 5.9.5 should be right around the corner. Upek already released 5.9.5 for Chrome 10 last week.

Yes, I already installed the new version yesterday and it works great. At least until the next version of FF...

Everything it's ok, but Protector Suite 2011 need a license key for full fuctionality. I have a Compal laptop, and only version that is available on their website is Protector Suite 2009 (witch requireing license key too!). You bought license for Protector Suite 2011 or have from manufacturer site?

more options

From what I can remember I actually upgraded awhile ago from 2009 to 2011. It kept my license intact. I originally bought a license from Upek for the 2009 version.

Thanks a lot. That mean that without buying license ther's no way to use finerprint reader with firefox :(

You can buy PS for only 19.99 from there website. Pretty reasonable price for the software if you ask me.

Thanks, i consider buying PS.

According to UPEK, Protector Suite 2011 (5.9.5), build 6962 and higher, is supported by Firefox 4.0. Go to: http://www.upek.com/support/customersupport/techsupport/Topic.asp?ID_Topic=81 I have not personally confirmed this.
