My quick filter "filter messages" stopped working

Kobus Conradie

I have been using Thunderbird for a while.. I could always filter messages easily to help with mailbox cleanup, now it seems to have stopped working or a setting has automatically changed.. When activating Quick Filter, I could type in the 'Filter Messages' box and it would start listing the mails in that inbox as I typed, now it doesn't happen anymore..

I have done the troubleshoot mode, there are 2 tickboxes, one to disable add-ons, one to reset to default. That seemed to have gotten the 'filter messages' working as it used to be, listing only what is requested.. Thanks

I see it works in troubleshoot mode, as per a previous thread? There wasn't a fix

You selected the Inbox (or other) folder in Folder Pane, before typing?

When you click the "quick filter" button on toolbar, does it bring up the quick filter search?

If not, could be a prob w/ a theme, or using older Tbird version - possibly damaged profile. Try updating to latest Tbird.

BEFORE doing any "repairing" or other monkeying around w/ fixes, BACKUP your profile to a safe location, so data can be restored if "fixing" stuff craters Tbird & your accts.
