I received a message from Kapersky recommending an update that supposedly enhances security for Firefox browsers. When I clicked on more info Firefox stated the update may be o.k. but it hasn't been affirmed by Firefox as recommended. I just keep ignoring this message but wondering if Firefox reevaluates these updates every so often? Just wondering what the current status is.

I also run Kaspersky. It prompts me and takes me to Firefox add-on page. It sounds like you don't trust it, but you're running their software. ;-)) There are far too many add-ons for them to monitor each one.
Just make sure it is not a fake ad. These ads use real pictures and such, but the links don't go to the site in question.
