I have two accounts ( email and gmail ) in Thunderbird.

It seems logical that you can give them their own separate and clearly distinctive notification sound.

You are the first person I have heard with such an idea in the 6 years I have been around this forum. I turn off the noise. It is distracting. But I see no way to make a different sound when mail comes to a particular account.

There is an add-on, Mailbox Alert, or you can install FiltaQuilla and create a message filter that plays a sound when new messages arrive for an account.
