I went through the steps to import my Thunderbird address book from my windows laptop into my iPhone. I started by exporting the address book and then attempting to import it via iCloud on my iPhone/iPad. I got an error message saying there was some kind of unsupported content or something like that. So apparently my contacts App on iCloud is somehow incompatible with the file. Is there another iPhone Address book or contacts app that would be compatible? Help appreciated!

See if this method for an iPad works on your phone:

Thanks for that suggestion I have gone that route, it was Apple Tech Support that showed me how to do the import process via iCloud. The reason of come back to this forum is in hopes that some one here might be aware of an iPhone/iPad app that may accommodate The file that I exported from Thunderbird. The built in contacts app in iCloud just give me an error.

I now recall the problem is that iCloud requires vCard v. 3.0, while TB is limited to v. 2.0. If you install the MoreFunctionsForAddressBook add-on, an address book can be exported in v. 3.0: in Address Book, select the address book, Tools/MoreFunctionsForAddressBook/Actions for addressbooks/Export as vcf (Ipod). You should also set the vCard export format to v. 3.0 in the add-on's Options (see picture), in case the vcf (Ipod) command doesn't already do that.

Hmmm interesting, I’ll try that. It may be a few days before I can get to it- I’ll report back how it goes. Thanks for the suggestion!
