Firefox asked to be shutdown to install a new update. Then it disappeared completely; my comp can't find firefox.exe anymore.

After I OK'd the restart, it disappeared completely. The shortcut icons are blank and searching for firefox.exe yields nothing. What happened? How do I recover from this?

Could you check whether you have anything in this folder:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\

That's the usual home of firefox.exe on a 64-bit Windows system.

If it's gone, try a new install using a full installer from the following page:

https://www.mozilla.org/firefox/all/

Scroll down to your preferred language and, for maximum compatibility, grab the 32-bit version which runs on all Windows systems (XP - 10).

If you run that installer, are the program files restored?
