win 7, backup disk, how do I get local folders data off to new comp.?

I have moved to new laptop,win7 from old desk side,win7 but old computer is no longer bootable bad disk. I have a backup of old computer.Thunderbird is now ok on new computer except I did not get LOCAL FOLDERS from old computer.How do I get the LOCAL FOLDERS from backup disk.I assume they are there but at a lower level. Better then nothing though. Jer

First of all determine what part of the Thunderbird profile is in your backup. The profile is basically what you need. See http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Thunderbird

The next steps depend on what's there, and what you can/want recover from the backup.
