How do I back up a One Touch Fire C?
As the screen of my Keon is shattered, I just got a One Touch Fire C. For migrating some data, I first want to back up the current system. However, that's not possible:
$ cd B2G-flash-tool $ ./backup_restore_profile.sh -b -p ~/tmp-backup/2015-02-18+00_Fire_C/ [...] remote object '/data/b2g/mozilla' does not exist $ adb shell shell@msm8610:/ $ cd /data/b2g /system/bin/sh: cd: /data/b2g: Permission denied
Does the device need to be rooted to run a backup? How do I root it?
I found some information concerning rooting a Fire C, but that looks like it is for Android: http://www.how-to-root.club/mp3-0/alcatel-fire-c-6138.html
To be honest, if it is not possible to back up the phone, then it's basically useless to me.

What I found out so far is that one can switch the device into special modes while turning it on:
- Press Volume down + Power for ca. 5 seconds: The phone's screen gets stuck showing "One Touch Fire C". Using a USB cable, you can access the device in fastboot mode.
- Press Volume up + Power for a little over 5 seconds: The phone's screen shows a "System revocery" menu.
Hi feklee,
I understand that you are having trouble running the backup script due to the factory permissions on your Alcatel OneTouch Fire C.
Unfortunately, I am not aware of any available means of rooting that specific device.
I am contacting the B2G Mailing List as well as our Technical Account Managers from Alcatel to check if there is a workaround available. Here is the thread for the discussion:
In the meantime, I would also advise that you contact Alcatel, who is responsible for the specific Firefox OS build included in your device. They may be able to provide you with a solution.
