Thunderbird keeps crashing after new install

I have a 13" MacBook Pro mid 2012 - a few days ago the hard drive crashed, and I have now been running on an install on an external drive. Everything else seems to be working very well (think I was missing the signs of a failing drive!).

I have downloaded and done a new install of Thunderbird 78.9.0 and copied the ~library/thunderbird folder to the new drive. Now when I start thunderbird it opens and then immediately crashes. All the data seems to be there.

If I start in offline mode, or with internet access off it will work for a while, and then crash.

I have tried using older back-up profile folders and the same problem happens.

Any suggestions?

Thank you in advance for your help.

Kind regards Hugh

Hi Wayne

Thank you so much for helping with this. I think the problem was the access to contacts.

All sorted.

Kind regards Hugh
