I have many folders to sort my emails. I have been getting errors that some folders are not available to move newer emails. The emails are left in the "Inbox". The only thing I've found that corrects this is to make sure that the folder being where the email is supposed to move is sorted with the newest emails are at the top of the list. This is not the default mode of Thunderbird and I have not found a way to change this for my account. This also does not tell me that there are unread messages in the folder, so I often miss emails until I receive an error message that the folder cannot receive new emails. After changing the sort the email move correctly.

Also, after I have changing the sort to have the newer emails at the top of the message list, the folder may revert to the default listing of newer emails on the bottom without me doing anything.

Any help would be appreciated.

Are you compacting your folders often? You should do that to keep things running properly.

I am frequently compacting my folders. Thunderbird is good about letting me know when I should compact. Is this not often enough???

I do that every day, right after emptying the trash.
