alot of the buttons aren't working such as new tab and refresh and hitting f5 doesn't work either ctrl+c doesn't work but ctrl+v does

i closed firefox and tried to reopen it and it said that it still had an instant still running so i went to task manager to close it even after that it still gave the same message

so i restarted started my computer and it was fine for 15 minutes and then it started up again
i think this only started after it asked me to update today

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).

  • Do not click the Reset button on the Safe mode start window or otherwise make changes.

Do a malware check with some malware scanning programs on the Windows computer.
You need to scan with all programs because each program detects different malware.
Make sure that you update each program to get the latest version of their databases before doing a scan.

You can also do a check for a rootkit infection with TDSSKiller.

Try to boot the computer in Windows Safe mode with network support (press F8 on the boot screen) as a test to see if that helps.
