Before I put an addon on (for color changes), I had it set, somehow, so the tab bar would be hidden until there were multiple tabs open.

  1. In the Tools menu select Options to open the Options dialog
  2. Go to the Tabs panel
  3. De-select the setting "Always show the tab bar"
