when i go to youtube and try to watch a video the video starts but while it loads firefox stops responding and it only happens when i am watching a video

I have the same problem and the the video just go green

If you only see a green block then that can indicate that the player plugin isn't able to write to the screen (direct draw). You can try to disable the hardware acceleration via the Flash "Display settings" window:
