Yesterday after I upgraded Firefox, I got a survey from Firefox with an offer to enter my name for a $1k raffle. When I clicked yes, it took me to a site National Consumer Center(promotionsonlineusa.com and amarktflow.com) and RewardZone(contact.rewardzoneusa.com) where I was asked many survey questions to enter my name in the raffle. Today my email box is filled with health product spam that is clearly related to that survey. Does Mozilla know what it got itself and its users into with that raffle and survey?

Unfortunately you fell victim to a scam survey that was stealing the Mozilla and Firefox logos to appear legitimate. Mozilla does run surveys of users, but they collect very little personal information (if any) and they would never be entering you for a raffle.

I'd suggest the following:

  • Run a full scan of your computer using www.malwarebytes.com to ensure you didn't pick up malware
  • Make sure you don't have any add-ons you don't recognize installed
  • Don't respond to the spam e-mails you're receiving. Simply send them to your junk e-mail folder.
  • It's probably a good idea to change your e-mail password as well
  • Finally, I'd suggest signing up for monitor.firefox.com to ensure your e-mail address isn't in any data breaches (it will also notify you in the future of new breaches)
  • Finally, and this has nothing to do with the scam survey, but I'd suggest trying to update your MacOS software. You're on a pretty old version
