..My Firefox Quantum 58.0 Browser doesn't play video (or, apparently other animation content), possibly since the November 15 update of Flash... I had the same problem a while ago, with my Firefox Developer Edition, and even added the VLC Plug-in... Now, neither Browser plays Video, and I may have to go back to Google Chrome for a fix....

....an update... I had disabled the "Widevine Content Decryption Module", during my earlier tests, and nothing played when I restarted (as suggested during the failed playback) my Laptop, however, when I re-enabled this Module, the Videos started to play properly.... Guess that was it, though I'm sure I had tried that before.... Fixed!!!

Hi OldBCJack,

Firefox 58 is still Beta version so not stable yet. Our release version is 57 (Quantum), you can download it here.

...I have further experimented, and found that if I start Firefox in Safe Mode, the Videos will play.... If I try to stop all my Addons manually, it doesn't work, so I'm wondering if there's something running in the Background, or something that isn't actually an Addon??

You should be reporting this as a bug maybe : If you have a bug, file a bug report. https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/ Bug Writing Guidelines : https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Mozilla/QA/Bug_writing_guidelines

You did mention any sites you went that causes this issue. Some sites use HTML5 and Flash others just HTML5 and others use own proprietary software.

...Pkshadow, thanks for your efforts!! I've been enjoying Firefox Developer Edition, and now Firefox Quantum (I run each one, at times, to see what's happening in the "upcoming" world, and I've had some adventures with each, and I'm glad I've been able to stick with Firefox products since my Netscape days!!!

This is a users community forum.

Mozilla like most companies that have free products do not have the resources to have call centres for one on one phone, chat, or email support especially since it would be for free.

The places you do get phone support are generally for products you paid for like some antivirus clients for example.

I've been using Firefox Quantum since it came out getting regular updates. All of a sudden Adobe Shockwave Flash Player started acting up when viewing youtube videos (SFP always worked before). The video would start normally video and audio and within 3 to 4 seconds I would loose 90% of the video but the audio was still there. I decided to restart my Quantum with add-ons disabled and Shockwave worked. Apparently my ADGuard Ad blocker was blocking Shockwave from working normally. Easily solved, I added youtube url's exception to my ADGuard Ad blocker Settings and solved my issue. Hope this helps someone with similar to my issue.

Youtube has not used the Flash Player Plugin (old name Shockwave Flash) for current videos since last June last year if I recall as they use the HTML5 player.
