If I type www.youtube.com/ in the address bar and hit enter the website will not load. If I type www.youtube.com into the address bar and hit enter it will load. This appears to be the case for any website as well as our internal web applications. If the / is on the end of the address it won't load, but when removed it will load. This started after the most recent update to Firefox. I have cleared the cache, but would prefer not to do a refresh of Firefox as I don't want to lose my add-ons and settings.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions ("3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.

  • switch to the DEFAULT theme: "3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Appearance
  • do NOT click the "Refresh Firefox" button on the Safe Mode start window
