Might have too many adobe acrobats installed? Dunno. There are 3 showing. Firefox used to work much better than Chrome. Now, Firefox is so bad and Chrome is actually working much better. Has the world been turned upside down :D?? The biggest problem is with playing Farmville, Zoo World and Solitaire Blitz on Facebook. It used to work fine. What happened? There used to be some plugin box that I could find in a folder, uncheck or delete, and then things would work fine, again. Am not computer savvy and cannot find that box, anymore :D. Apparently, some script or something in Adobe Acrobat was written incorrectly or something? I am on Windows Vista Home 32 bit.

Somebody please help.

Your System Details shows;

Why do you think you have more than one program?

If there is, remove all those programs, then reinstall what you want.

Hi Navigator1Ann, let me start with Adobe Reader/Acrobat.

Your plugins list shows you have the 11 (XI) series. There actually have been numerous security/bug patches released since the main download version (11.0.10). The best way to fetch those is from within your Adobe product (either Reader or Acrobat). Click the Help menu, then Check for Updates. If that doesn't get you the current 11.0.18 patch, you can download it from the release notes page here:

http://www.adobe.com/devnet-docs/acrobatetk/tools/ReleaseNotes/11/11.0.18.html

Now... that said, I can tell you from personal experience that the plugin checker site will consider that version also to be "outdated" because Adobe has superseded the 11 series with a new DC series. Since DC looks radically different and it more oriented toward the cloud, I suggest sticking with the 11 series for now and just using the internal updater from time to time to satisfy yourself that you have the latest patch.

Hmm, this is tough one. What is going wrong with the games: error messages? slow loading? don't play correctly?

It's possible that you need a Flash update. You can check your full version number using the Add-ons page or my plugin lister page. Current release is "23.0.0.185".

Add-ons Page

Either:

  • Ctrl+Shift+a (Mac: Command+Shift+a)
  • "3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons

In the left column, click Plugins. On the right side, find "Shockwave Flash" and click the More link. Here you will find the full version number, and also the checkbox for "Enable Adobe Flash protected mode" which might be the thing you turned off earlier.

Hi and thanks. That info is very helpful :). The games just keep loading and then that "script hanging error" thing shows up and I have to click "continue". I extended the time from 10 to 20 for loading but it didn't work. Shockwave hangs or gets stuck but at least it's not crashing, yet, lol.

Flash is up to date. Adobe Flash Player Shockwave Flash 23.0 r0

v. 23.0.0.185 up to date And yes, adobe acrobat shows as needing update but it is updated. Will try that patch link.

Unfortunately, I also updated to that DC in desperation, lol. Can help me by telling me where to locate it so that I can uninstall it?

Thanks, again :). Am on my way to check out the link you posted.

In that case, try turning off the Protected Mode feature. It has the security benefit of reducing the harm rogue Flash media could cause your system, so unfortunately, you would be giving that up, at least during the time you are using the game site.

Note: after checking or unchecking the box, the change doesn't take effect until all Flash has been closed for 3 minutes or so, or until you exit/restart Firefox.

Try the Windows Control Panel, Uninstall a Program.

For the Flash issue, some users are having problem with reduced performance due to an incompatibility with a new feature. You could try turning it off as follows:

(1) In a new tab, type or paste about:config in the address bar and press Enter/Return. Click the button promising to be careful.

(2) In the search box above the list, type or paste async and pause while the list is filtered

(3) Double-click the dom.ipc.plugins.asyncdrawing.enabled preference to switch the value from true to false

This might not take effect until the next time you exit Firefox and start it up again.

Does that help?

Hi and apologies for not replying faster. The patches wouldn't work for some reason or another. Can't remember exactly but it said it didn't match with my computer version or similar.

Am going to see if I can un-install the DC.

1st, will try your flash advice and see how it goes.

Was using Chrome and then tried Firefox the other day and it worked pretty good. Today, it's not working so good.

Thanks for the advice :).

Just checked and it is set to false. Will set it to true and see what happens.
